A beautiful, antique Edwardian pendant dating to the early 20th century, c.1910. Designed as a flowing leaf and floral bud in the Art Nouveau manner. A tear-drop shaped amethyst measuring 10 mm x 5 mm is set beneath a small, round amethyst amidst gently scalloped and leaf-like pearl set forms. The combination of white and purple gemstones was beautifully symbolic during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, often being used to represent Love. This style of pendant, with a suspended drop, is known as a lavalier. An aesthetic and very pretty example of antique English jewellery.
