Dating to the late 1700s, this is currently one of the oldest pieces in the collection. Fitting neatly into the Georgian era, this exquisite pendant is a beautiful example of quintessential English jewellery. Designed as a glazed miniature portrait painting, set in a rounded navette shape 9ct gold frame. With a dome glazed panel to the front and both bail and brooch fittings to the reverse. The sitter is a young woman, painted with rosey cheeks and long curly hair. She must have been of notable standing to have such a painting commissioned. The artist’s hand is exceptional, with minute brushstrokes capturing each and every tiny detail. Can be worn as either a pendant or brooch.
