A classically designed 18ct gold cluster ring claw set with a central oval opal. The opal has a strong play of colour with flashes of green, blue, yellow, orange and red. Measuring 16 mm x 11 mm, the opal is estimated to be between 8 and 10 carats. Surrounded by a halo of 20 individually set bright, white and well matched sparkling diamonds. Each diamond is 4 points, totalling an estimated 0.80 carats. The ring face is fronted with platinum and measures 22 mm x 16 mm providing beautiful finger coverage. With tapered shoulders, a plain shank and a beautifully detailed basket underneath. Dates to the mid 20th century.
