This fine early Victorian antique ring dates to the middle of the 19th century, c. 1840s to 1860s. Claw set with a central, rich velvet blue, oval shaped sapphire, one of the prettiest stones I have seen in a while. The sapphire measures approximately 5 mm x 4 mm and has strong saturation. Surrounded by a halo of 14 individually set old cut twinkling diamonds. Each diamond is 1.5 points, totalling an estimate combined carat weight of 0.30 carats. Flanked by diamond set foliate and trefoil detailed shoulders and on a grooved detailed shank. The cluster measures 10 mm x 9 mm. A gorgeous Victorian jewel that would make a perfect antique engagement ring.
Measurements: UK ring size is G 1/2 or US size approx. 3 5/8
Weighs: 2.5 grams
Hallmarks: none, tests to be around 18ct gold with a silver topped setting
