This delightful antique jewel is a beautiful snapshot of quintessential England during the Georgian and Victorian eras. Designed as a lozenge shape sea green jasperware panel gorgeously decorated with a classical figure, in a 9ct rose gold frame with sweet pearl and scrolling details. During the late 1700s, Josiah Wedgwood started up as an independent potter at just 29 years old. His avid experiments with clay brought about his famous Jasperware range after thousands of colour related experiments. Jasperware is an unglazed vitreous fine stoneware, made in soft pastel hues with applied classical and contemporary scenes. This pendant is Victorian, a lovely early example. Please note the chain and velvet box shown are for demonstration purposes only. The versatility of this piece is lovely I think and looks beautiful worn on rich velvet, ribbon, lace as well as a gold chain. Fun Fact: Charles Darwin, best known for his contributions to the science of evolution, was Josiah Wedgwood’s grandson.
