A fine quality Antique amethyst cabochon ring with the most foliate engraving. The 10 mm x 8 mm amethyst is a beautiful mid purplish lilac hue, cabochon cut on top with a faceted pavilion below. The resultant effect creates a beautiful play of light and this type of gemstone cut if often referred to as buff cut. Flush set with finely engraved detailing which leads the eye around the ring. Set in 10ct gold. Dates to c.1900-1920s and nods to slightly earlier Victorian examples. In good condition with minor wear in keeping with age.
